Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail

End of another decade

We are now in the fourth quarter, the race to the finish line for … not only this year… but the decade!

Do not feel discouraged if you have not accomplished what you thought you would. If we are honest, most of us have not (guilty)!

Begin with the end in mind – Stephen Covey

The key is to start now … and PLAN.

plan

What is important is to “Begin with the end in mind” – a famous Stephen Covey quote … and work your way backwards to where you are now.

Why? Because you get a more clear picture of the path to get where you want to go. It seems counter intuitive.. but try it!

For example, have you mapped out what kind of income you need (after taxes) to live the lifestyle you want?

Define your life

Do you want your own personal jet? You would be surprised a personal jet is not part of everyone’s dream.

Do you want to travel? How often and where? Are you traveling first class or want to travel an unbeaten path?

Is the size of the house you live in important? What about the car you drive or clothes you wear? For some, these are important. For others, less so.

Who do you want to spend your time with and what do you want to be doing? Skiing? Walking on the beach? Running marathons? Swimming? Learning? So many options, so little time!

Make the best of your time

So, as we are looking at the end of the decade, how about planning the next one? What is the 10 year, 5 year and 1 year plan for you to accomplish great things in your life?

We all have the same number of hours each day to live. What will you see that you accomplished when you are looking in the rear view mirror in 2029?

The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
